This is the first piece I will be writing for the Lion Club blog. My name is Chad. I sing and play guitar and keyboard and make the drum machine beats and samples for the band. I’d like to start by saying thank you so much for reading. I suppose our basic goal is to keep you all updated about the band, especially the recording of SENECA, our first full length. Chelsey will also be writing here plenty. I would say the record is now roughly 3/4’s finished.
Recently Chris and I have been getting together twice a month or so to work on vocals. We are right around halfway done with those, and are also mixing and adding the extras as we go. Recently we’ve been adding drum machine programming and samples and keyboards. Around Christmas Justin will come in and add guitar to a few things, then Alex (www.aeroplane1929.com) and Trevor will stop by to add harmonies and a few guest lead vocals. Then it’s just mixing and mastering.
Our last session was mostly tying up loose ends on a few songs that we had already begun tracking vocals for, including “Southern Salt Baptist”, “Our Hound”, and “Cathedral Weather”, all of which you can hear in demo form at http://www.myspace.com/lioncubband. We also added some drum machine and a first draft of vocals to “Poison Tree”. Currently the plan is to finish as much as possible over the holiday break. I am also excited to announce our first show, with the best of friends, Alex Mazzaferro from Aeroplane, 1929 and Ian O’Neill from Deer Tick. It will be at the Space, in Hamden Connecticut on January 14th. We will also be releasing the “Poison Tree EP” Single, featuring three exclusive tracks from our upcoming album.
We will hopefully be releasing SENECA in the middle Spring in both digital and physical formats. Stay tuned for exact release dates and where you can buy the record. Thanks so much for reading guys and check back soon for Chelsey’s and my list of our favorite records and films of the year!
